What is Functional Medicine?

Wholestic Nutrition

Welcome to Wholestic Nutrition and congratulations on taking this important step to optimal health! We are honored to be part of your healing journey. Caring for and maintaining the body’s health is an act of integrating healing modalities, not separating them. We harness the power of functional medicine to heal the unified system of your body. As a Functional Medicine practice, we work with you to identify and address the root causes of your health symptoms so that you can reach your wellness goals.

The concept of “functional medicine” springs from the idea that healing is an act of integration, not separation.

Our practice is unique in the Functional Medicine space because of our boutique approach. Instead of addressing different symptoms across separate areas, functional medicine seeks to address the common issues that affect the unified system of your body.

Since the founding of his practice, Dr. Sentissi and our team have helped clients heal from a variety of challenging health concerns.

No matter where you are in your healing journey, we’ll make sure we do everything in our power to find effective solutions that will empower your lifelong health.

Rae Thompson, CFMC

As a wife, mother of 2 adult children, and a dedicated Christian woman who wants to serve others, it is my passion and mission to help others live their best life and achieve optimal health and vitality. I firmly believe that the body was created to heal itself when given the environment to do so. This is where my journey with Wholestic Nutrition comes in as I was privileged to experience the program as a client and learner as a future functional medicine health coach. This journey through my own health challenges and walking through my results made me better equipped to support those I would soon be supporting and coaching through their own health journey.

My health related issues stemmed from years of fad-dieting, over-exercising and adrenal stress while not realizing I was struggling with thyroid issues that would later result in osteoporosis, gut related issues and inflammation. After years of searching for answers and healing for these health issues, I can honestly say that the final pieces of the puzzle were solved when I made the commitment to join Wholestic Nutrition as a client and a student. After 6 months of focus and making the necessary changes, my health has improved significantly. My thyroid is functioning at a more optimal level, and I firmly believe it is due to the support and knowledge I’ve received from my 6 month program. I was also given protocols and supplementation recommendations to improve areas that were flagged on my test results as deficient. To see the results and then retest to see the improvements offered relief and hope that my body could heal, and I was not a product of the genetics I was born with.

Prevention is key, and my goal is that the current healthcare system will partner with functional medicine and health coaches to get to the root cause of disease and to provide a support system for the patient. Educating patients who need motivation and support is my passion.

Our Principles As A Functional Medicine Practitioner

Close up top view of young people putting their hands together. Friends with stack of hands showing unity and teamwork.
  • Practitioners prioritize quality over quantity with their clients. A practitioner will only make recommendations after listening carefully to a client’s history, documenting their personal choices and health history.
  • Assessment and prevention are prioritized over wait-and-see approaches.
  • Prioritization is placed on utilizing the most modern and advanced assessment and healing modalities available.
  • Clients are not made to feel that they have taken a passive role in their own health. Instead, they are to be armed with information and encouraged to take an active role in improving how they feel.

We offer multiple programs to assist you on your healing journey

Wholestic Nutrition’s Customized Programs are designed to address the root cause of your symptoms and understand the underlying mechanism of your condition.

Every program begins with a 90-minute new client session and thorough health history evaluation.
Unlike your typical healthcare appointment which usually lasts only 7-10 minutes, this one and a half hour initial session allows us to go deep into your health history, lifestyle, health concerns, goals and expectations.

From there, your practitioner will recommend the appropriate assessment tests and begin crafting a customized wellness program to address your unique health concerns.

Health Concerns Addressed

Since the scope of functional medicine is broad, we address a wide variety of health concerns.

Some of the most common include:

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
